PATIENT ZERO

Besides the obvious anxieties of war on the horizon or the fear of the government disarming its citizens, there is something that the American media finds itself obsessing over and that is the risk to the public health and that moment where a virus or disease spreads rapidly and kills millions of people.

It can be said that a lot of the media diet we take in and the entertainment we choose focuses on the grim reality of a contagion that can turn us into an undesirable mutant, zombie or lunatic.

The media has now been buzzing about a new movie due soon that will once again acquaint us with how vulnerable we are to a contagion. ‘World War Z’, based on the book by Max Brooks, is another in series of plague stories that have been gracing our multiplexes.

The first patient to get the disease is called ‘Patient Zero‘. It is found that patient zero is 12 year old boy from China who was the first person to contract the disease that of course has all the symptoms that has always been a staple in zombie films and stories.

The Chinese government attempts to contain the contagion and creates a false flag crisis involving Taiwan to mask their activities. The contagion is spread to other countries by the black market organ trade and by refugees, before an outbreak of “African rabies” finally brings the plague to public attention.

The United States does little to prepare for the coming contagion because it is overly confident in its ability to handle any threat. Although Special Forces teams are used to contain initial outbreaks, a widespread effort never starts as the nation is sapped of political will by several conflicts that crop up and that the administration pushes vaccines that do nothing but only give a false sense of security.

Once again there seems to be an undercurrent of coincidence happening that has been overlooked on a global level because of “wars and rumors of wars” that demand our attention as North Korea continues to bait us with war rhetoric that seems to be creating more angst than results.

As we are preparing for what many are claiming to be a potential global thermal nuclear war, there are now reports from China that the contagion that bears a resemblance to the ‘World War Z‘ plague is underway and the Chinese are saying that the United States may be responsible.

A few weeks ago I reported that there pigs seen floating in the rivers of China. Later stories of ducks and swans were seen floating in the rivers. This drew attention to yet another sickening fact, decomposing human bodies are now being fished out of the rivers as well.

Corpse-filled waterways in China are not exactly a new problem but because of the dumping of more than 16,000 pig carcasses there has been concern that many of the bodies found in the waterways are also disease-ridden and that the rivers where the carcasses are found provides more than a fifth of the city’s drinking water.

One can only speculate why China’s great rivers are becoming morgues for humans, birds and animals.

On a previous Ground Zero I speculated about what could be happening in China. All signs were pointing to a possible accidental release of an unknown contagion, or an evolved force multiplied biological weapon that could start a disastrous pandemic.

A week after Ground Zero first speculated about a biological event it was reported that an outbreak of the rare H7N9 bird flu took place in China and that the death toll continues to rise in the area.
