A patient in America has had 75 per cent of their skull replaced with a 3D-printed implant in a pioneering operation.
The creators of the implant now hope that they will be able to use 3D-printing to replace missing or damaged bones in other parts of the body.
The unnamed patient had their head scanned by researchers at Oxford Performance Materials, in Connecticut, who then used it to print out a replacement 'cap' that was implanted.
