Subject: SHORT CIRCUIT: BURN OUT YOUR DEAD Tue Feb 19, 2013 9:56 pm
Today there was a remarkably Fortean story that was actually covered by CBS News. It has been sometime since I have actually seen a contemporary story of people who literally burst into flame; however, there it was in an online exclusive story.
Police believe a man may have died from spontaneous human combustion after they found his burned body in his home but no other fire damage or evidence of a flammable accelerant use.
“Sequoyah County authorities are determining the circumstances surrounding the death of 65-year-old Danny Vanzandt after his charred remains were found at his Tulsa home.”
After neighbors saw smoke coming from the house they called the fire department and attempted to put out what they thought was a pile of burning trash. They soon realized it was in fact a body.
Authorities said the man had a history of heavy drinking and smoking, but Lockhart said the way his body was burned was inconsistent with an accidental fire – such as from a cigarette dropping.
Many times there have been theories about how this happens to human beings and the best probable explanation deals with the idea of an over production of electrical activity in the brain.
Human beings are quite literally walking fat candles. If the brain over produces electrical activity it can in rare cases ignite the gasses an vapors within the body. The fat content ignites and the body burns inside and eventually explodes and burns outwardly.
There have been weird cases of human combustion during surgery. During one operation a woman shot flame out of her stomach to the bewilderment of doctors. The little blue flame ignited the oxygen causing a fire eventually killing the patient.
Ireland Lane, an 11-year-old cancer survivor was at a children’s hospital in Portland, Oregon when suddenly she caught fire. She was reportedly making an art project for the nurses at Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital, and minutes later her body caught fire.
Lane was able to run to some nurses outside of her room, who smothered the flames. She was then transferred over to the burn unit at Legacy Emanuel Hospital nearby.
Lane’s family claims she had just used the hospital’s hand sanitizer to clean up after her art project, and they believe that could somehow be to blame.
However, it gets a bit more peculiar because the hospital says their immediate investigation turned up no clear cause. Administrators say there was no access to an open flame in her room that could have ignited the hand sanitizer, a product which is typically made up of more than 60-percent alcohol.
