Former CIA agent and torture whistleblower John Kiriakou has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison for what was apparently an unpublished leak but what Kiriakou’s supporters believe is retaliation for exposing the horrific CIA torture program.
Kiriakou will spend 30 months in jail for leaking classified information but the fact of the matter is he had been exposing the CIA torture program right before the charges which many believe were levied against him because he was the first to expose the now infamous torture program.
Not being able to afford attorney fees and not wanting to risk a longer prison sentence, Kiriakou agreed to plead guilty in October to leaking the name of a CIA agent to a freelance reporter who never even published the information.
