After the fireball that was seen over the eastern sea board I was besieged with emails asking me why I have avoided talking about a possible extinction level event that was planned for Monday, March 25th, 2013.
A man calling himself Raymond was able to frighten a lot of people into believing that an impact event would happen, stirring controversy as fireballs have been seen everywhere and many people fear that the Heaven’s gates have opened and a fiery hell awaits us on earth from an extinction level event.
In the wake of last month’s meteor strike in Russia and a close asteroid flyby on the same day, members of Congress asked NASA, White House and Air Force officials what they’re doing to combat the threat of near-Earth asteroids during a hearing Tuesday on Capitol Hill.
“The answer to you is, ‘if it’s coming in three weeks, pray,’” space agency chief Charles Bolden said, in response to Rep. Bill Posey (R-Fla.), who asked what NASA would do if a large asteroid headed on a collision course with Earth was discovered today with only three weeks before impact.
It is a sick thought that your “faith” is an excuse to admit, “Resistance is futile.”
Many hard-line Christians and Muslims have now embraced an apocalyptic self-destruct philosophy because they feel that death is not the end and that their reward waits in heaven. They believe with every fiber of their being that they will receive a spiritual renewal in the next level of existence.
If you ever ask yourself why suicide bombers sacrifice themselves, or why terrorists fly suicide missions into buildings, or why some soldiers sign up to go to war you may attribute it to the hardwired belief in destroying life for some programmed nobility.
The apocalyptic imagination is now at a fever pitch where the results are often fatal. People begin to wonder if they have no future while others seem to think that they will be saved by some miracle where they won’t have to taste death and will be taken up into heaven before the earth is destroyed in a deluge of fire.
All of what I am seeing lately is in my opinion a synchronistic reminder of what happened 16 years ago, when Comet Hale-Bopp was predicted to collide with earth, and a possible rock was caught in its tail.
There was a lot of speculation that in the tail was a spaceship and that it was sending us a signal that it was in trouble. Cap that off with a major UFO sighting in a major city and a group of religious cultists believing that suicide would be the only way to get to heaven and join up with their fellow alien brethren in the tail of the Hale-Bopp comet.
I know that when one reports of asteroids or meteors coming down out of the sky they are called Chicken Little’s. However the real chicken littles are those that predict mass death and destruction from a meteor that is only hypothetical based on approximation and abrupt pushing of debris in the ‘detritusphere‘.
The reality now is that NASA is all but admitting that they do not have the capability of tracking these pieces of rock coming in and I worry that this can trigger a fit of mass hysteria not unlike what happened in 1997 with the passing of the Hale-Bopp Comet and the deaths of 39 cult members of the Heaven’s Gate cult.
When a massive UFO was seen over Phoenix in 1997 and a comet passing near the earth was seen, one man did pray and received inspiration that he along with his 38 followers should commit suicide in order to leave the earth and meet up with the brotherhood of the evolutionary level above human.
The Heaven’s Gate cult believed that a flying saucer was traveling behind the Hale-Bopp comet. They chose to leave their physical bodies or what they called “vehicles” behind along with and apocalyptic message that the earth was about to be recycled and that it was time to leave the planet before its utter destruction.
